Rosepark recently purchased the Mews at the back of our current premises and have finally got planning permission to change the building into two apartments with the potential to house four additional residents. The acquisition of the mews will also result in additional garden space for all the residents. We are expecting to have the works completed on this project by the end of April 2020.
We are revising the current layout of the mews from a single unit into two separate apartments. Each apartment will have a living room, kitchen, double bedroom and ensuite bathroom/wet room. The apartments will be fitted out with top of the range appliances which are suited to the elderly tenant. The top apartment features floor to ceiling windows and will be accessible by both a stairs and lift. The grounds feature mature garden plants and shrubs which will complement the existing gardens in Rosepark House.
After a consultation process local builders Lawrance Lynch Builders & Co Ltd were appointed to undertake the task of renovating the Mews also known as Tinkers Dell. The heavy duty work is underway including the laying of a new floor and the installation of damp and noise insulation.
While the site does not present a pretty picture at this point, this detailed work will ensure that our new residents will have warm practical accommodation. As part of the planning process we also got permission to knock a side wall which allows Tinkers Dell to be integrated into the main Rosepark House complex.
Work is in on schedule and our new residents should be moving into their new accommodation by spring 2020.
Work is progressing. Currently, insulation and interior wiring have been completed alongside the new entrance way.
We are all very excited about welcoming in our new residents, but there is still a lot do.
Spring is usually a busy time for builders, and so they have been busy fitting the internal partitions that will comprise the new kitchens, sitting rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms.
Inside is cosy and snug. We are expecting residents to feel very at home in this new, and secure, private space overlooking our new garden space—though that may need some TLC.
When you walk around inside you really get the feeling of “home”. It will truly be a comfortable space.
It’s a long road, but we will continue marching on with our new extension, and doing our best to provide the best home comforts we possibly can.
Rosepark, like many other communities across the Republic, has had to adapt to the current Health Situation. Watching from the bay windows the residents can see the quiet seats flanked by the ocean lazily meander across the bay. It is a challenging moment at this point in the timeline, but it is not unsurmountable.
We are all doing our best to stay safe, keep the spirits up, and enjoy this quiet time as the whole country seems to fall asleep.
All the while though the garden is waking up. We hope to bring you a selection of our Roses and spring bulbs in the coming weeks.
The Mews is done, and the residents are now enjoying their new abodes. They are settling in just fine.
Two fully equipped, modern, and, above all else, quiet homes are now part of what Rosepark can offer, and we hope to make to most of them in the coming years.
It's amazing to think that but a year ago the muse was a hive of plumbers, builders, and laborers. And now in Lockdown 3.0 it is so quiet you can hear the ocean from outside.
Time flies. Just not fast enough.
